Pakistan International Container Terminal
Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT), the Manila-based International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) subsidiary in Karachi, recently became the first container terminal in the country to obtain ISO 45001:2018 certification. This is the latest international standard for occupational health and safety, and gaining accreditation demonstrates compliance with a range of guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
PICT successfully migrated from the old OHSAS 18001 standard to the new one following a verification and audit process carried out by Bureau Veritas. ISO 45001:2018 specifies a set of requirements for occupational health and safety management systems, and requires the demonstration of organisational commitment to the continual improvement of systems designed to deliver an even safer and healthier workplace.
