WORLD MARITIME DAY CELEBRATION ON 28TH SEPTEMBER 2023 AT PAKISTAN MARINE ACADEMY
Pakistan Marine Academy being a maritime training institute celebrates
the World Maritime Day in the month of September every year with
special focus on the theme of International Maritime Organization
(IMO). This year the day was celebrated with the theme “MARPOL AT
50 – OUR COMMITMENT GOES ON”. The event was attended by
dignitaries from various sectors of maritime field, which includes
manning agents, port authorities and government officials.
Ms. Alia Shahid, Director General Ports & Shipping Wing, Karachi
graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Global Radiance Group sponsored
the event.
The event commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran followed
by the welcome address by the Commandant PMA, Cdre. Rizwan Ali
Munawar SI(M). Recorded message of Secretary General IMO, Mr.
Kitach Limon was screened on the World Maritime Day to start the
proceedings of the event.
Following renowned Seafarers shared their experiences regarding the
theme, MARPOL at 50:

At the end, Souvenirs were distributed to the guest speakers and the
sponsors by the Chief Guest. After the distribution, the Chief Guest
appreciated the efforts of the Academy and highlighted the efforts
